This is a Metcard ticket, the most common and popular tool used by Melbarnian who used public transport to travel ( could be used in train, tram & bus)
This is Myki card, an intelligent card which introduced to the city folks but still not widely in use.
This card apply touch and go concept but it faced lot of problems along the introduction stage because the need to link up 3 type of transportation modes under 1 card kind of complicated.
I am using Metcard widely since arrive in this city but I also have Myki in my wallet now. So far I am more comfortable with old system, normal human being mind set, resistant to change.
However, I discovered a BIG advantage of Myki over Metcard on yesterday when I probed the Myki marketing stuff (actually I practise my Inglish than)
For the past few months, I only travel widely on Sunday because Metcard provided a special fair at A$3.10 for whole day journey.
Myki applied the same offer too BUT it also charge user the same special rate on Saturday and Public Holiday
mmmm…… now my neighbour will not get bother by me thru out the weekend as I would be on the move for most of the time at outside enjoying myself.
