Solstice Winter

21-22 June is the Solstice Winter for Southern Hemisphere of the earth. During this day, this part of world I am stuck at now will have the longest darkness in a year.

mmm… according to Wikipedia, Solstice mean :

A solstice is an astronomical event that happens twice each year, when the tilt of the Earth's axis is most inclined toward or away from the Sun, causing the Sun's apparent position in the sky to reach its northernmost or southernmost extreme

So today the sun place himself far to the north of the earth and from tomorrow onward he will slowly slowly move away from north abd back to the southern part in 6 mths time.

Does this mean I have managed to put up with cold winter of Melbourne by now ?

By theory should be so but not according to practical because my local friends told me the hardest part of winter is happen on July to August… wonder what are there waiting for me to experience !???? smile_zipit
