My Home Entertainment Set

Can I show you my very not high end home entertainment system ?

It all begin with this very nice TV set which loan by Mr T to me 1 month ago when I moaned to him how very miserable my life was without drama.

 

 

After 2 weeks of drama here drama there (5 free channels on air) I started to complain again… I missed out lot of nice drama because either I am busy at outside or 2 nice dramas ran at similar time slot. The most efficiency solution is to get a digital video recorder.

I started my research 1wk ago. Need to consider long term plan when pocket out my $$ because Australia going phased out Standard TV signal and to be replace with Digital Signal by 2013 (if I not remember wrongly)

I shopped for hours on Sat and Sun. Compare all type of option I got. Some set really super cheap but internet forum guys screamed out loud not to touch it.

I came to conclusion to get an all one recorder set on Sunday afternoon but reliased one big problem with the tv set at home because it is a old model therefore it do not come with those video connectors. The electrical shop guy asked me to get RF Modulator if I wish to hook it up with external box.

Found and purchased this A$28/- modular on Monday (Public holiday mah)

 

 

Tested it out on TV… hey… it able to function as expectation. GOOD.. lets go to 2nd step. Which was purchased below A$350 recorder.

 

 

Nice design right ? It is the cheapest I could get. Made in China mah. Sony or Panasonic all price above A$600. This recorder have 500G HDD space and have to function to record 2 TV programs at same time… wow wow wow… Bravo… can record Desperate Housewives & Lost at same time, while i am at outside shopping.

My happiness was a short one because I tried to link up the system from 6-9pm but at the end I only got BAD SIGNAL on the tv screen. After lot and lot and lot of $%#$%$  I decided to boycott my tv and go to sleep.

Ignore the TV on Tue… decided to bring the Video Recorder back for refund (in Australia, they promise refund for not satisfy customers) on Wednesday.

Today… Wednesday. Time to give up on dream of dramas… but I decided not to give up at last minutes.

Around 6pm, I back to the same salesman, Simon is his name. Told him I fail to get the system run due to weak signal from my building antenna… he said “Why not you get an indoor antenna and try out since you already go so far ?”  I said as long as I can return all the things back to him if I not successful will be fine for me.

He said of cause and there I go…. another A$50…. oop… A$40 (he automatic reduce price for me) for following portable antenna….

 

 

What  do you think ? Am I manage to get all the channel I want ?

YES…. This time I got it. On total around 13 free on air channel can capture but seriously only 5 channels showing good program. Also, from time to time I got distortion signal on screen but this is a very hard to avoid cos it is indoor antenna…..

With this successful exercise, it mean I going to cut down on my blogging time from now onward because I need to dedicate more hours to watch my recorded program mah… hehehehehe
